Top 22 Ways Teens Can Turn Down Alcohol
By Simbo Olanusi-Babatope, MD, FASAM
Despite the fact that it is illegal for teenagers under the age of 18 to drink, alcohol is among the most widely used, mood-altering chemicals among our youth today. Over 2,000 youth between 16 and 20 years of age die every year in alcohol-related motor vehicle accidents. Over 90 percent of the teens who drink regularly also engage in other activities that can put them and/or those around them at risk for harm, such as using illegal drugs, fighting, carrying weapons and having unsafe sexual relations.
